I used to think my beliefs about the absurdity of religion were my beliefs and something I did not need to share with the world. As I've gotten older I've seen that this tactic is largely selfish because I generally avoid confrontation. However, the religious front in this countries(and others) take no breaks. The constantly shove christianity and islam down our throats, tell us gay people are evil, tell us muslims are coming to make us pray to mecca, and other ridiculous things. This would be fine, and ultimately amusing if there were so many morons that actually believed this. Our country is so whacked that people like Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum (not for faith at heart), Rick Perry, and others are relevant, in fact so relevant they have a chance at being president. Me thinks our whole nation is on crazy pills!!!
Simply put: I have f****** had enough!!!!! Everyday I hear how awesome god is, or how god is punishing our nation because we are straying from our christain values. Our nation doesn't have christian values; we have christain people in our nation, but we aren't a christian nation. Want proof? look at all the documents our founding fathers wrote. The first ammendmant makes this clear. Even a 16 year old girl like Jessica Alquist has this figured out!!!
If the religious loonies want to live in a christian nation then they need to realize that any theocracy, even a christian one, would be rife with problems. What sect of christianity would rule? In muslim countries there are predominantly 2 sects; the Sunnis and Shi'ites, they battle each other tooth and nail over small differences. Before our meddling in Iraq Hussein's Sunni party largely ruled the Shi'ites with a heavy handed rule (gas attacks, murders, executions, no social programs, etc...) Are the muslim ayatollahs any more radical than some of our christian religion leaders? Of course not. Lets looks at our religous leaders and see the similarities to muslim nut jobs. Mind you, these aren't extremist in the christian realm, they are very popular and have a huge number of followers - these people are faith leaders for a HUGE part of our population.
Jerry Falwell
"I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!"
"The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country."
Pat Robertson (Christian Coalition)
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."
"It may be a blessing in disguise. ... Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. Haitians were originally under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal. Ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other." speaking on the recent earthquake in Haiti
James Dobson (Focus on the Family)
"My observation is that women are merely waiting for their husbands to assume leadership."
"Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage. It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth."
"Christians have made arguments on both sides of this question. I certainly believe that God is displeased with America for its pride and arrogance, for killing 40 million unborn babies, for the universality of profanity and for other forms of immorality. However, rather than trying to forge a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the terrorist attacks and America’s abandonment of biblical principles, which I think is wrong, we need to accept the truth that this nation will suffer in many ways for departing from the principles of righteousness. "The wages of sin is death," as it says in Romans 6, both for individuals and for entire cultures. " - in regards to 9/11/01
So lets think about what a 'christian nation' would look like in the US based on what sect was in power:
Catholic
- No birth control or abortion
- pedophilia is wrong but covered up by the Vatican
- Women would have few rights, not even leadership roles in the church
- We would all be expected to live in shame for the sins we were given
- Eradication of non christian texts, art, & music
- No booze, no tobacco, no 'obscene' media
- Forced baptism/conversion of even dead people
- Promoting unsustainable growth through large families
- Women could not be in the higher echelons of clergy
- Wear special undergarments to protect us from temptation
- Hatred towards gays, and anyone that is not born again (westboro baptist church)
- Strict moral laws (like Saudi Arabia)
- subservient women
- Ultra conservative doctrine
- Extreme hatred towards all non evangelicals
- All natural disasters blamed on man because of his impurities
- No compassion towards others of differing faith
- No teaching of rational science in schools
- Proven medicine replaced with faith healings
What a great utopian theocracy we could have (NOT!). The catholic church can't even keep priests' wankers out of little boys; how could they manage country larger than the 110 acre Vatican City? The mormon recently decided that black skinned people were holy enough to be in the clergy in 1978. The baptists want to revert us into a puritanical society that burns witches, gays, and adulterers at the stake. The Evangelicals would like to mimic Saudi Arabia only with a 'christain' agenda.
I suggest all the readers to this blog make your voice heard. It has been long enough we have sat back and watched theist radicals shove their absurdity down our throats. I am sick of hearing evolution is just a misplaced idea by the same people who believe stories of resurrection, people walking on water, handmade wooden ships with millions of creatures on them, talking snakes, people in whale's bellies, humans moving oceans, etc....

Anyone can comment, but personally attacking people IS NOT allowed. Argue ideas, beliefs, and values as you may, but leave attacks elsewhere.
Also mentioning you will pray for my soul is a surefire way to be banned. In addition to being unproductive and a waste of time it only serves to show a complete lack of spine. These are the rules, and I am the reigning deity.
